Juan Ramirez for Vice President.

Your vote can restore CFI. Your vote is your voice and it has never been more important than now!

I, Juan Ramirez, appreciate your nomination to be CFI Vice-President and will work hard to restore the rights of all members, self-determination and strong advocacy for all interpreters statewide.

Experience: I have been an active steward in Orange County for over 12 years and worked extensively to promote better engagement, proper resourcing, and stronger MOU enforcement. This is why I was twice appointed to the Grievance and Arbitration Committee, more recently committee Chair in 2016-17, working arduously to track issues, pursue grievances and prepare arbitrations with Local counsel. I know the work of advocacy for better conditions and fair treatment of interpreters. I am known by many for my dedication to the profession where I have worked over 30 years and am honored to be part of the CFI legacy that believes in supporting members attain their best and highest purpose. Whether it is helping with MOU issues, Continuing Education or VRI, you deserve to have a responsive Union that works. I will continue to work for you.

Analysis: Please know that your vote for change will determine the direction of our Local. We are at the crossroads: whether to be on the sidelines or take an active part in our own affairs. I believe we choose the latter and move forward with the business of CFI: better member engagement, strong bargaining state-wide, strategic positions at the table, and wise use of all resources. In short, a union that is responsive to our needs, by interpreters and for interpreters.

Vision: This is the path forward to thwart schisms, petty rivalries and divisive tactics. With your vote and ongoing participation, our CFI local will thrive and regain its mission. For over one year there has been no compliance with our bylaws that promote member involvement, effective representation and issue advocacy. Today, I ask for your vote to change that and restore our local.

Team: Our work as volunteers across this vast state requires focused collective effort, not divisiveness. I urge you to vote Mary Lou Aranguren for President, Katy Van Sant for Treasurer, Delia Castro for Secretary, and as Regional Representatives: Laura Carranza (R1), Daniel Navarro (R2), and Chris Deruyte (R3).

Action: Restore CFI.

Vote Juan Ramirez for Vice President… for a better union.
