Elections

Approximately half of the directors are elected each year for a two year period.

Officers to be elected (in odd year) for terms beginning on even years:

  • Chair/President
  • Vice Chair/Southern Vice President
  • Secretary/Northern Vice President
  • Northern Professional Division Director
  • Southern Professional Division Director

Officers to be elected (in even year) for terms beginning on odd years:

  • Records Keeper
  • Treasurer
  • Assembly Delegates – Region 1
  • Assembly Delegates – Region 2
  • Assembly Delegates – Region 3
  • Assembly Delegates – Region 4

Each region elects one delegate per 50 unit members. If there are 2 or more delegates for any region, they select by simple majority one representative among them to serve on the Court Interpreter Unit Council (CIUC). As you can see in the chart below, these CIUC delegates serve on the Joint Governing Board.

The approximate elections schedule is as follows:

  1. Appointment of nominations and tellers committees: Last week of August
  2. Mail notice of nominations: By September 26
  3. Nominations period: October 1-15
  4. Preparation of ballots: End of October
  5. Mail election ballots: November 9
  6. Election period: November 15-30
  7. Deadline for ballot return: November 30
  8. Results should be announced by mid December.
