The Judicial Council holds its first public meeting on the budget in San Francisco on Friday July 22 and will vote whether or not to take away our surplus of over $4 million.
The AOC has indicated that court closures are not in store for this year. The Interpreter Fund was left untouched, but there are $150 million in unallocated reductions.
Yesterday Jerry Brown vetoed the budget submitted to him by the legislature the day before. It included a $150 million cut to the courts in addition to the $200 million already cut.
On May 27th Assembly Bill 618, authored by Assembly member Warren Furutani and sponsored by CFI faced a critical vote by the Assembly Appropriations committee.
